Dallas, Calgary swap AHL forwards

The Calgary Flames have acquired former AHL rookie of the year Riley Damiani from the Dallas Stars in exchange for forward Emilio Pettersen.

Damiani, who won the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award in 2020-21, has notched 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points in 53 games for the AHL’s Texas Stars this season. In 204 career AHL games with Texas, Damiami has totaled 47 goals and 79 assists for 126 points.

A fifth-round pick by Dallas in the 2018 NHL Draft, the 23-year-old Damiani made his NHL debut with the Stars in 2021-22 and collected one goal and one assist in seven games.

Pettersen, 23, has tallied seven goals and 23 assists for 30 points in 54 games with the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers this season, his fourth pro campaign.

Pettersen was chosen by the Flames in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Draft and has appeared in 203 career AHL contests with Calgary and Stockton, compiling 45 goals and 69 assists for 114 points.
